You have decided it is the right time to clad the exterior of your house, but you have not yet made your choice?
Well, here we present to you few lining possibilities, their application and value.
Decorative Gypsum Plaster
That is one of the most common mastics used – however, the wall should be prepared for cladding first! Usually, it is applied on top of a network or directly on the polystyrene or mineral wool insulation. You can either use the classic screed of cement and sand or modern polymeric mastic. It is usually white but can be colored, according to the desires of the owner.
There are gypsum mortars, on top of which you can place various small pieces of marble or granite of different colors. Those mortars are so useful because of the variety of surfaces they can be applied on. Craftsmen have to use different tools to place them on the different locations.
The pros of this lining are that it is beautiful, and the home becomes warm and friendly. The main disadvantage is that this cladding is not long lasting. It is susceptible to the ever -changing weather conditions and that is why it has to be repaired after some time.
Brick Facing
Bricks are one of the most common building materials. They are preferred because of their beauty, durability and thermal insulation.
Traditional brick masonry offers unlimited possibilities for their layout; bricks come in different forms and dimensions, which allows for plenty of options for their lining. You can show your individual style of cladding even with ordinary bricks; currently, there are bricks with a non-standard form on the market which might help you achieve unique results.
There are bricks that add to the antique appearance of the building they are used on.
This coating is applied on an already existing house or even on the insulation, installed on the exterior of the building.
The main advantage is that if done properly, it can last decades. Another advantage of the cladding is that you can personally choose the color distribution which would give a unique appearance of your walls. The only drawback is that it costs more than the gypsum.
Stone Facing
This is the facing which is said to last forever. The stone is renowned as a symbol of endurance and reliability.
Cladding stones have unique aesthetic qualities. In Bulgaria, one of the best cladding stones is the renowned gneiss from Ivaylovgrad.
The facing stone, used in architecture and interior design, may exert a strong emotional impact on people. Lining with stones is the oldest lining, which people have used since the Stone Age.
The technology for placing stone facing has not changed much over the centuries. Cladding stones can be used for the construction of a trail of stones in the garden, and also for indoor and outdoor décor.
At present, the most commonly used way for tiling is when the stone is cut into thin slabs which, with the help of mastic, are then applied onto the wall; however, the old method is still a possibility when large stones are simply superimposed on the wall.
As a freestone, gneiss is suitable in both cases. If you opt for a classic lining with stones for your home, please, strengthen further the base, where the stones would be placed; they are very heavy and as a result, they act as an additional burden on the wall.
We have to say that there are very beautiful imitations of the stones on the market, indeed; however, the natural stone is always the better choice if you want to express your style and personality in a unique way and create something that lasts forever.
