Ideas for Stone Paths in the Garden

A stone path is a great element that varies in shape, size and aesthetic arrangement and gives the garden shape. Now, we will try to give you a few ideas for creating a great trail with the usage of stone materials.

Path of Stone Slabs

To create it, you need stone slabs with either irregular or regular shape (depending on your preference) with thickness of 3-5 cm and length of more than 5cm. Slabs from Ivailovgrad gneiss would be very suitable for this purpose. Since there is not master plastered under the stones, the heavier the stones are, the better.
The stones are placed on the site where the path is planned to be, and the distance between them is determined by your own preference. Please, be sure you have chosen the most suitable place for the trail.
After finally deciding on the location of the stones, please, place them well in the ground; in the space between them, you either cement the place or plant grass.

When choosing grass for the fugues, you may choose either ry egrass, or small clover – the second option requires less care for maintenance. If you plant grass, please, select a type, which endures heavy loads, such as grassy mixes for sport courses. Please, consider whether the trail is exposed to the sun or is in the shade.

In order for the trail of stones (with grass fugue) to be beautiful, great care must be taken – such as regular pruning of the lawn and periodic watering. The grass retains a lot of trash, so the cleaning is difficult.

If you choose to grount with cement your trail of stones in the garden, you’ll save yourself a lot more care in the future and you will be able to clean and maintain it easily. In such an easy and relatively fast way, you can create a comfortable and functional path.

Path of Stone Slabs and Thyme

After laying the tiles in the ground, which are placed according to your taste and at distance you have selected, you can now plan thyme. Thyme can be planted from seedlings or seeds.
A cheap option for planting thyme is of seeds that are sold in stores. Thyme from seeds grows slower and requires more protection from unfavorable conditions and watering while it grows and develops fully; therefore, it is better to choose ready plants. Specialized stores sell thyme in pots, but if it is expensive for you, you could always obtain it directly from the wild – its natural habitat.

Once you plant the thyme, it should be watered regularly and protected well until a root appears. Please, don’t worry to step on it several times because that way, you actually help it form its shape; thyme can handle pressure really well. In the end, you get something beautiful, and when the thyme blossoms, there’s a very nice scent.

Thyme is a perennial plant, which does not require maintenance, and in addition, it is a wonderful herb that is not only fragrant but also very pretty with its purple blossoms that bloom during the months of June and July.

Path from Formed Concrete

For the construction of this trail, you should use mold, which can vary in shape, and concrete solution. Please, outline the place where the path will be located, with the help of a string and pegs. Then dig up the place to a depth equal to that of the mold. Please, place on the bottom special foil and then put the mold. Inside the mold, place concrete mix that is evenly smoothed on the bottom. Then wait five minutes, remove the mold and put it next the hardened – already concrete.

When the walkway is ready, please, pour onto it grout and evenly distribute it; then spray with water, and later wash. That way, in just a few hours, you will have a path which resembles separate concrete blocks.

Trail of Granite Paving Stones

That is one of the options, which requires dedication, precision and time for the construction of the trail. Please, start with creating the borders, with the usage of paving stones. Then lay the sand bed where later you will place the granite pavers. Then level up the paving stones, with the help of a stretched string. After that, use a hammer to align and shape the pavers.

When the paving stones are lined up, please, pour a thin concrete mixture over them; then apply it evenly onto the pavement with a stiff brush. After that, a small vibrating machine should be used to make the pavement blocks lower and even. Finally, with a strong water jet, please wash away the remnants of the concrete topping. The final result is a long lasting and beautiful trail, which requires time, dedication and precision for its completion.

These are just a few ideas for the creation of a stone path in the garden.
