Both natural and manufactured stone cladding has recently been used in building. The advantage of natural stone cladding is that natural stones preserve their properties over time and are harmless to people.
Extracted natural stones are usually offered to customers as cut stones, polygonal slates (which are offered the way they have been extracted), cladding, stone cuttings, bones.
Cut stones are slates that are processed and shaped in advance and are cut in standard sizes with a particular thickness. They are used both for wall cladding and for pavement in alleys.
Polygonal slates are stones in natural shape, since they have not been specially processed. They are offered the way they have been extracted and have irregular shapes and different sizes.
Stone cuttings are slates, cut at one side, which are the result of preliminary processing of cut stones.
Bones are tiny cuttings, usually with two parallel straight sides, which have recently become particularly fashionable for cladding of different parts of walls, fireplaces or chimneys.
Here are the standard sizes and parameters of natural stones:

For wall cladding, stones with thickness of 30 mm are usually used. Thicker slates of 25-45 mm are used for pavement.
As far as pavement is concerned, it is recommendable that there be an armature over the base.
Sometimes stones with thickness over 100 mm are offered as well. They could be placed directly on a foundation of sand and are suitable for alleys in parks and gardens.
